5-Minute Craft: Simple Boutonniere

I'm a budget-obsessed bride-to-be, but I'm trying to keep from drowning in the sea of online wedding inspiration. Sure, there are some seriously drool-worthy sites out there, but they're so chock-full of content that clicking around can sometimes feel like being hit with a (frilly, pretty) tidal wave. I am enamored with flowers, though, and though I'm a die-hard penny pincher, I want to incorporate fresh blooms into our cheapskate ceremony. Luckily, one of my dapper co-workers assembled some boutonnieres for a wedding tomorrow.

Don't worry, future groomsmen--I was taking notes. Here's how we're going to make you look classy on the cheap.

You'll need:

  • Flowers (try delicate ranunculus)
  • Floral wire
  • A sprig of berries
  • A feather
  • A large leaf
  • Ribbon and glue (or washi or floral tape)
Make it:
  1. Trim flower stems. Stagger the heights slightly to make a more visually-appealing arrangement.
  2. Nestle berries in front and feather behind, and cradle the whole shebang in the leaf. Secure with floral wire.
  3. Wrap washi tape or ribbon around the floral wire. Apply glue in the back if needed.
You can make these in advance; just pop them in a water-filled vase and stick in the fridge overnight.
