Bodega Blooms

I know I've mentioned before that I love to deck out my desk with fresh flowers. It's such a cheap way to brighten up your workspace! I'm ringing in the new year with some new workplace digs, and this year's m.o. is clutter-free whimsy. I want to surround myself with cheery decor that doesn't feel too busy. This week's solution: bold blooms in a white container.

These two kinds of chrysanthemums (purple daisy spray and yellow button spray) are some of my go-to flowers when I shop at a bodega. They're unfussy, long-lasting, and--best of all--cheap. I assembled this arrangement for less than $10. The vase is a white flower pot from Ikea (a steal at only $4). The texture lends it a bit of a mod vibe without distracting from the flowers themselves.

HGTV has some genius tips for extending the lifespan of your bouquet. Check out the part about perking up droopy stems--turns out that newspaper can revive floppy flowers.
