Sometimes a gal just wants to make something in a hurry. No fancy tools, no laundry list of steps. In my new column, "5-Minute Craft," I'll show you some cool ways to get your craft on in a jiffy. First up: easy dessert decor.
Toppers are a super easy way to dress up dessert, whether you're throwing a fancy fete or just noshing on a lunchtime cupcake. (You know.) Sites like Shop Sweet Lulu peddle adorable paper toppers, but you can make your own in minutes--no zany DIY skills necessary.
You'll need:
- Toothpicks
- Craft plue
- A craft punch (I love the Martha Stewart line at Michaels)
- Scissors
- Patterned scrapbook paper or cardstock
Make it:
- Use your craft punch to cut out two of the same shape from scrapbook paper
- Make incisions at the top of one shape and the bottom of the other (cut to about halfway down)
- Fit the shapes together like puzzle pieces, pushing the bottom of one down into the incision you cut into the top of the other
- Dab craft glue on one seam, and attach toothpick
And you're done!
